I love Siem Reap

Siem Reap is the complete opposite to Singapore.  We went on so many tuk tuk rides - our hotel had their own one that we could use for free.

We saw the Children's Hospital and also the art area. In Cambodia you can hear some really sad stories - like one person we talked to had one hand and one missing. This was because there was a bad war here not long ago.

That night we got tickets to Phare circus - the cambodian circus. There was amazing young people doing unbelievable acrobatics while telling a story about the history of Cambodia. The performing arts school is made up of young people who were very poor and this school was started to give them a chance to learn new skills.

Sky Line adventures....

Today I went to Skyline Adventures. It has 42 zip lines through the Chiang Mai jungle. It was high in the mountains and steep dirt roads to get there.

The longest zip line was 900 m long and it went over this valley so we were so high above the ground.

We had two instructors called Yong and Nut. They were crazy and fun. Look at these cool photos of me flying.

Back at the basecamp I accidentally stood in some wet concrete and left a big footprint....the Thai man got a shock and fixed it straight away!

It was a bit chilly in the mountains at 33 degrees.

At 6pm when we arrived where are staying in Chiang Mai it warmed up to 40 degrees! Hot hot hot!!

We also visited the white temple where dad and I met a scary guy.....

Zoe - a very special place

Today we visited Zoe...its a place that helps kids who have been kidnapped by bad people by rescuing them and looking after them.  We weren't allowed to take photos because its a place that no one knows where it is....we went up tiny tiny dirt roads to get there and there was guards there too.

Its was amazing experience - we saw children and it looked like they were having a great time.  There are about 80 children and they all live in new family groups.  Its sad to think about it but its happy to think about them having a good time now.

Thailand master chef...Chiang Mai style

Today we decided to go cooking......we took a blue truck which was a bad move because it was super hot!
It was amazing....first we went to the market and learnt about lots of Thai veges and spices.  We then went to this persons house and each of us had to make 4 courses....soup, noodles, our own curry paste and then a curry

There was a person our group from Norway and another from
Israel.  One dish used big flames to cook it.

We all passed and got a cooking certficate!

Visiting Maijer in Chiang Kham

Today we visited Maijer. She is our 12 year old sponsor child and the reason that we have come to Thailand.
Showing my school video

She loved the movie that we made at school for her. Thanks to you Pohutakawa for being my actors and Jean and Poppy for being the directors. Here is a picture of Maijer and her family.

We visited her new secondary school that Maijer will be starting in 2 months time. Her parents and project workers came too and we were all amazed at this school.  It has 2500 students and Maijer will get to learn English... wow soon we will be able to write to each
other in English!

We were able to tell Maijers family that the money that we raised selling scarfs and other things in NZ could help out with Maijers school costs.

These photos below show all the 250 children in the project in Maijers Village - each one is sponsored by a family from around the world....the whole project staff and programmes  is paid from these sponsors....

Adventures at Universal Studios....

The next day we went to Universal Studios where we took photos with lots of characters and went on some real cool rides.

There was the revenge of the mummy and the transformer which are both high speed inside rides with special effects. Then there was the crazy fast roller coasters the Human, the Cyclone and the Accelerator that spins...  and look at these cool pictures.

This is a Lychee. You have to peel off the skin to get this yummy white fruit but you don't eat the black nut inside.
We also ate some amazing food at the hawker centres which are like markets with all sorts of food....

Kenya won....and the cool thing was that Kenya has never won before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They were so happy they got in a circle, went on their knees and prayed for ages.

That night it was so crowded we went home on the MRT which is the underground train.....it took us close to our hotel and then we walked 15 mins home....

Singapore sevens

Today we went to the Singapore Sevens . It is held in a new indoor amazing stadium. NZ lost to France!!! But beat USA and Canada. So we're in the cup not the bowl. Tomorrow we play South Africa!!

The National stadium was very loud there was singing, dancing, cheering, dress ups and 50,000 people doing a Mexican wave....I feel a song coming on......ole ole ole ole.

There was a cool wave pool...look at this....

And we went home by the MRT underground train and had a swim at 9pm to cool off!
See ya

Don't J walk!

Yesterday we visited United World College and got shown around by Danny the principal of the high school who mum trained at PE school with. Its now the end of the school year and so the leaving students were all dressed up in themes like tigers, superman, tomato sauce, a duke box and someone painted completely blue.

In Singapore there are way less cars as they are very very expensive. This is because there are so many people that if they all had cars then the roads would be blocked and the city would be very polluted. Also in Singapore its illegal to J walk (that means you cant cross the road without a zebra crossing).....watch out!

We had dinner with friends that Dad works with and enjoyed their pool at their apartment and whoops I fell asleep on their couch....

Today we are off to see the All Blacks at the Singapore Sevens..... haka time!

Singapore here we come !!!!!

Hi it's me. We went on a 11 hour plane ride to get to Singapore. My favourite things were the party pack meals and two little girls we met, they were 8 and 12 months old and very smiley.

Singapore time is 4 hours behind NZ so we went to bed at 8 here which is after midnight for you in NZ. The problem is, we woke up at 4 in the morning Singapore time because our bodies thought we should be walking to school at 8am!

In the airport when arrived there was a butterfly garden with 1000's of beautiful butterflies flying around and lots of cocoons.

The place we are staying has a humongous pool on the 5th floor...luckily our room is on the 9th floor not the 4th floor ( phew!)
Bye
